The Snoop Youth Football League

Youth football and cheer with a focus on teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline, self-respect, and academics.

The Snoop Youth Football League (SYFL) is a nonprofit organization created to give inner-city children the opportunity to participate in football and cheer.

More than a game

The league gives young people of every race, creed, and economic background the chance to build character, integrity, and discipline through sports.

Its purpose is to bring communities together, encourage fair play and fellowship, and teach the game with an emphasis on safety, enjoyment, and healthy competition.

What the league encourages

• Teamwork: working together and supporting others.
• Sportsmanship: respecting teammates and opponents.
• Discipline: building commitment and self-respect.
• Academics: recognizing the importance of education.

A league with a history

Founded by Snoop Dogg, the SYFL began its inaugural season in fall 2005 with more than 1,300 children from the Los Angeles area.

That first season included seven regular-season games and a three-week playoff, ending with the league’s Super Bowl in November. Selected all-star players also traveled to Houston, Texas, to compete.

The league’s history includes opportunities for children to travel, experience new places, and compete with young athletes from other communities.
